The Catskill Jazz Factory is an invaluable organization in the Hudson Valley — part incubator, part presenter, with a stated dedication to cultivating new artists and audiences for the music. Among the musicians who have developed work under its auspices are vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, pianists Dan Tepfer and Aaron Diehl, and trombonist Wycliffe Gordon.
A few years ago I met Piers Playfair, who with his wife Lucy has been the engine behind the Catskill Jazz Factory, up in Tannersville, NY. When Playing Changes was published last summer, Piers called to ask how we could work together. I’m so pleased that we found an opening during the organization’s summer festival, and that I’ll be sharing the stage with an excellent young saxophonist, Patrick Bartley, Jr.
If you’re anywhere in the mid-Hudson Valley, or feel like a summer getaway, I hope you’ll join us for this FREE event!
